TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival Closes Out With Flair

“I have a hangover,” said pro skier Lynsey Dyer over breakfast last week. “I’m hung over from the entire festival.”
I had one too, literally, especially after the last night of the festival. We had gone to the athlete 80s Prom where everyone who had gone big that week, went even bigger at the Westin Ballroom until about 1 a.m. Then we all went for more at Maxx Fish until the dance club closed.

The hangover was huge.
It wasn’t too hard to get even if you weren’t drinking. The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival caused all sorts of event yo-yoing. A typical day started with skiing, then to après ski and free concerts in the plaza, dinner, evening events like the Filmmakers Showdown, and after parties.
Repeat.
“Every year the festival is really, really good,” said Whistler/Blackcomb spokeswoman Michelle Leroux, “and I don’t know how you can make it better.”
Event after event: skiing and snowboarding contests, free outdoor concerts with the likes of DJ Bassnectar, Stephen Marley, Toots & The Maytals, and The Beautiful Girls, among many others, and enough dancing to cause blisters on your feet.
There was plenty of fun to be had. It's all done now. And yeah, I miss my hangover.
