It’s been a year-long process to become an Ullr Girl: putting up a profile; asking all my friends to go out of their way to vote online; making it all the way to Whistler and being welcomed by the greatest Swedish family (thanks Sven and Amanda) who let us crash at their place for 10 days; sliding a rail for the first time in my life; going to the best apres ski ever with all of the Ullr Girls laughing and wrecking shit while Meg and Grete flung peppers into Sarah’s beer. Then there was skiing with an all-girl posse for the first time and loving every second of it.

It wasn’t too hard to get even if you weren’t drinking. The TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival caused all sorts of event yo-yoing. A typical day started with skiing, then to après ski and free concerts in the plaza, dinner, evening events like the Filmmakers Showdown, and after parties.

For an hour, the skiers jammed the jump, showing the crowd their best tricks. When the judges deliberated, it was Olsson, JF Houle, and Tanner Rainville who made it through to the last round. That meant a number of favorites were out: Dumont, Sammy Carlson, Steele Spence, Charles Gagnier, Charley Ager, and back-flipping Tucker Perkins – all out.
