l have already admitted publicly to being a Moonie--a follower of the Reverend John Clendenin. A year ago, before I twice took his camps, I could barely ski anything bumpy or cruddy, and powder waws out of the question.

After taking his camp again this year, let me tell you what I was able to do on this very day:

With the comfort of some extra powder, I skiied several double-black runs on Aspen Mountain for the first time. Singe-black were easy today, because of the snow, and I also skied powder, groomed, and everthing in-between.

All of this was beyond my wildest dreams: all I ever wanted from life was to ski the blue runs. Thanks to the Reverend, I've left that all behind and ski the whole mountain.

How did it happen? Simply really. JC's Aspen Method is based on four words: drift, center, tip, turn. It's that simple but it feels weird at first all of a sudden you're skiing on the "epiphany pad" -- the outer toe pad of the uphill ski. And that makes all the difference.

I know he's going to be explaining things over the next months on Skiing Post, but don't miss out on his book about the Four Words. (See the link above.) And get to the camps if you can. You won't believe what you'll be skiing.

I still can't believe it: after all these years, I can finally ski!

Aspen and Snowmass are 12 miles apart and on the same lift ticket.
Vail and Beaver Creek are 11 miles apart and on the same lift ticket.
Together or apart, the decision needs to be consistent for both these pairings.

Still no word on whether Hertrich hit 1,000 days. I called Timberline Resort several times and get their answering machine. Can't find anything online either.

If you hear anything make sure to let us know.
